Edward de Decker
General Manager
Born in Montelimar, France, de Decker moved to Maryland with his family at a young age. de Decker went back to France every summer to work with his grandfather, on his farm in Provence. During the evenings de Decker would spend time in the kitchen with his grandmother, watching and helping her cook large family dinners. In his early years, de Decker found an immense passion for cooking, food, and the hospitality industry.
At 16, de Decker got his first job shucking oysters at Black’s Bar & Kitchen, in Maryland, and doing any job he could get his hands on from hosting and bussing tables to working in the kitchen as a prep cook. Before graduating from Virginia Tech’s R.B. Pamplin College of Business with a Bachelor of Science degree in business, with an emphasis in hospitality & tourism management, de Decker interned at The Balmoral Hotel in Edinburgh, Scotland, where he gained experience working at the one Michelin star restaurant, Number One.
Prior to joining Sage Restaurant Concepts, de Decker was the Assistant General Manager and Beverage Manager at Old Major, where he curated the bar and cocktail program and wine list. de Decker has held multiple food and beverage leadership roles, including experience as an Assistant Restaurant Manager at The Ritz-Carlton Downtown Denver and JW Marriott Desert Springs Resort & Spa in Palm Desert, where he oversaw various dining outlets. During his time at JW Marriott Desert Springs Resort & Spa, de Decker was acknowledged with the Griffin Award for strongly representing the vision of the JW Marriott brand and culture.
de Decker joined the Sage Restaurant Concepts team in February 2021 as an Assistant General Manager for The Rally Hotel’s two signature culinary concepts, The Original and The Rally Bar. With more than ten years of experience in the hospitality & tourism industry and an affinity for exemplary service and leadership, he was quickly promoted to General Manager in August 2021. de Decker draws from all his past experiences to help mentor and train his team towards success.
